Establishing a Church Library (a 2007 project!)



            Background:
      • The University City Church in Charlotte, NC asked me to help them start a church library.
      • My Sabbath School, at the Pioneer Memorial Church, began one a few years ago.
      • Our Sabbath School leaders have done an excellent job in organizing and selecting the best sources available.
      • I would like to share with you how it was done.



            Our Goal - finding resources to:
      • help children / youth love Jesus
      • parent effectively
      • enhance the quality of families
      • spiritual and personal growth



            Where to put this library:



            How to Organize it:

      • The classification system was designed by Wanda Pool, our librarian at the Pioneer Memorial Church.

        Here is a sample entry:

        CHILDREN = C

        Teaching the Faith : an Essential Guide for Building Faith-Shaped Kids. Donna Habenicht: Review, 2004.     $ 20     BV 1475.2 .H234 2004

      • C1 - B - this is the first item under CHILDREN, in this case it is a book
        $20 - when available
        I have added the call number when available for the benefit of those who have a college or a university library nearby
