Position summary

Full-time Assistant Professor faculty position in the Department of Social Work.  Requires an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program, with a PhD or equivalent degree completed or substantially in process. Requires a minimum of 2 years of post-master’s social work practice experience. Prior social work teaching experience is highly desirable, particularly teaching undergraduate and graduate research courses.

Qualifications summary

Demonstrated social work teaching effectiveness, particularly in research and statistics, and proven research competence are also highly desirable. Experience with CSWE accreditation is a strong asset.

Duties and responsibilities

Standard faculty member responsibilities include teaching BSW and MSW courses, conducting research, and providing academic advising and service to the department, University and surrounding community.  Other responsibilities include recruiting and participating in student activities.

Supervisory responsibilities

Supervision of one-two graduate students who assist with teaching assistance and research for the faculty member.

Qualifications

Requires an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program, with a PhD completed or substantially in progress.  Also requires a minimum of 2 years of post-master’s social work practice experience.  Demonstrated social work teaching effectiveness, particularly in both quantitative and qualitative research, and proven research competence are also highly desirable.  Ability to teach and mentor students in statistics is a valuable asset.  Experience with CSWE accreditation standards highly desirable. Experience in delivering distance education an additional plus.
