Position summary
Serves as director of the physical plant and is responsible to the Vice President for Financial Administration.
Qualifications summary
Must have broad knowledge of facilities management incluiding repair, renovations, and new Construction. Must be service oriented to work well with students, faculty, and staff as well as the community. Must have a high school education and a minimum of four years experience in construction and facilities maintenance. Must speak English Fluently.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Counsel with Managers and approve equipment purchases for their departments
Authorizes and signs all invoices for physical plant departmental equipment
Responsible for signing all subcontracts and agreements entered into by the physical plant departments.
Responsible for purchasing all construction materials.
Responsible for reviewing and signing all construction invoices.
Responsible for directing the keying of University buildings.
Authorize the dispensing of all master and sub-master keys.
Authorize scheduling of Managers vacations.
Counsel with Managers and the Director of Human Resources in personnel matters of the staff in the departments under the supervision.
Authorize travel requests and expense reports for the physical plant personnel.
Serve as the Director of the Andrews University Campus Arboretum.
Act on various committees as assigned by Administration.
Develop and manage the budget for the physical plant.
Be available to work in the physical plant departments in emergency situations.
Serve on building and renovation committees to review and finalize plans.
Work with contractors on new construction and renovations on campus.
Supervisory responsibilities
Responsible for supervising the Managers of the following departments:
- Campus Arboretum
- Custodial Services
- Plant Services
- Transportation
Supervise and manage new construction and renovations on campus.
Qualifications

Must have a high school education and a minimum of four years experience in construction and facilities maintenance.
Must speak English fluently.
Must have a working knowledge of math.
Must have the ability to work your way through complex situations and problems in a timely manner.
Must carry the Storm Water Certificate for the University.
Must have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) to assist with commercial driving emerencies in the Transportation Department.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Physical demands
A moderate amount of physical activity is required. Sitting, walking, lifting, and climbing could all be involved.
Work environment
Most of the work day is spent in the office. Other time could be spent walking the campus, inspecting buildings, grounds, equipment, roofs, roads, parking lots, and sidewalks. The environment could vary considerably during this process.
