Position summary

Works closely with faculty on the marketing of student and departmental artwork, projects and events with a primary focus on creating an audience through the most current digital and social media outlets.  This position exists to increase visibility of the Department of Visual Art & Design (VA&D) and mobilize an online community of faculty, students, alumni, and community members interested in our work.

Qualifications summary

Experience writing or publishing online content (in various media), and repurposing existing offline content for the Web.  A track record for generating an audience through social media outlets.  Prefer candidates who have some training in digital media, photography, or video.  Proven track record of being a self-starter and handling personal and online conversations in a diplomatic fashion.

Duties and responsibilities

Reports to the four department program coordinators in Visual Art & Design.  Curates quality student work tha twould best translate into an engaging and unique art experience for viewers, while coordinating with the instructors of all VA&D courses to represent the entire department.  Partners with BFA students to create original short features for online distribution.  Will work to create and moderate an online community through an understanding of the latest trends in social media and digital outlets.  Will serve a an online spokesperson for the department, addressing questions related to artwork, courses, and program-specific interest.
