Position summary
Plan and organize Seminary assessment activities. Assist in input and interpretation of assessment data and advise in the use of data for use in program review, evaluation, and improvement. Keep Seminary faculty and administration apprised of ATS requirements related to these areas.

Duties and responsibilities
- Work independently and in collaboration with the director of Institutional Effectiveness and the Seminary associate dean to prioritize the tasks listed below.
- Lead out in the organization and planning of routine and annual assessment activities.
- Organize and administer a variety of Seminary surveys.
- Perform basic statistical analyses using SPSS, and analyses of qualitative data.
- Create and update assessment documents and reports.
- Present and disseminate complex information in forms that are understandable to a variety of audiences committees, administrators, program directors, faculty, and students as appropriate.
- Interpret and make meaning of data and assessment findings and contextualize them for analysis and decision making. Where feasible, make recommendations.
- Assist Seminary faculty with development of program curricula and outcomes, course objectives and appropriate assessment instruments.
- Advise faculty in utilizing learning outcomes data for assessment, program review and evaluation, and accreditation.
- Assist program faculty and staff with use of the online assessment management program, WeaveOnline.
- Communicate with faculty and Seminary deans regarding program assessment progress.
- Maintain confidentiality of assessment data and documents.
- Serve on a variety of Seminary committees relating to these tasks.
- Schedule and serve as secretary for Seminary assessment committee meetings, identifying assessment results and other items for the agenda.
- Coordinate the collection and storage of accreditation related documents.
- Serve as contact between the Seminary and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) for assessment related matters.
- Keep current on ATS requirements related to programs, curricula, and assessment, determine implications for the seminary, and disseminate this knowledge for planning and decision making.
- Maintain updated web sites, updating them as needed.
- Conduct special projects as assigned.
- Work with a variety of computer programs, including word processors, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, electronic survey tools, and information management systems.
- Compose routine and complex reports, presentations, correspondence, and memos.
- Create tables, graphs, etc.
- Supervise student workers as needed.
Supervisory responsibilities
- Must be able to work independently to prioritize tasks, schedule assessment activities, communicate instructions and responsibilities, and follow up on contacts/surveys to maximize collection of assessment data.
- Must have a warm and friendly personality.
- Must have good communication skills and be able to interact pleasantly and professionally with all administrators, faculty, staff and students.
- Is able to perform and coordinate activities, including storing, retrieving, and integrating information for dissemination to colleagues and other constituents.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Understanding of teaching pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and data analysis.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to use basic math skills, and use calculators and spreadsheets, to calculate figures and amounts such as frequencies, proportions, and percentages.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to seek out, analyze and evaluate information from multiple sources and make applications for practice and planning. Ability to solve practical day-to-day problems.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
- Proficiency in keyboarding and use of Microsoft and WordPerfect Office Suites.
- Ability to learn new software packages as needed.
Interpersonal interactions
- Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions or other institutional documents furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to write reports, and business correspondence in clear, correct English.
- Ability to effectively communicate information in oral, written or graphic formats, and respond to questions from a variety of constituencies including faculty and staff, as needed.
