DINING SERVICES - Front of House Supervisor

Position summary

The Front of the House Supervisor’s role incudes direct supervision of staff and student laborers that work outside of the kitchen area including the separate stations located throughout the service area. The FOH Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Terrace Café outside the operations of the kitchen. Café décor, product display, cleanliness, organization, stocking, Perform all duties of the Front of House Manager in their absence and customer relations pertaining to the operations of the Terrace Café are more responsibilities of this job. The Front of the House Supervisor is responsible for all customer service needs and training of the staff in service, portioning, sanitation, and safety. The Front of the House students report directly to this position.

Duties and responsibilities


 

Supervisory responsibilities

Directly supervises the FOH students. Authority extends into the ware washing facility and to the sanitation crew. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

A degree in the field of Business; and at least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literacy skills are required. 
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively to customers or employees of organization is critical.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Comfort with accounting procedures.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
