Position summary
Overall responsibility for all of the University's Microsoft based servers. Duties include maintaining all servers at current patch levels, ensuring the systems including; Exchange, the Active Directory and some third party applications are operating at maximum performance, reliability, and availability. Administers all MSSQL databases. Administers servers both physical and virtual, as well as works with storage area networks and backups. Works closely with SAN’s director, Client Support staff and others regarding needs, specifications, analysis, design and implementation of new servers and network architectures. Secondary duties include administration of the GIS data base, working closely with GIS manger and end users in design and implementation. Administers the University's Internet filter.
Qualifications summary
- Bachelor’s degree in a computing related field, and 4 years of work experience with enterprise environments involving 125+ Microsoft servers. An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

- Ability to perform tasks that require methodical and organized approach; strong attention to detail.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, administer, upgrade, and migrate Windows servers in an enterprise 24x7 environment.
- Functions as subject matter expert for all MS domain components (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, etc.)
- Administers 2013 Exchange mail systems w 1100+ accounts (redundant CAS, & MB servers)
- Active Directory administration
- Group Policy management
- AD replication to four domain controllers
- Single sign-on administration within the AD
- Maintain security permissions
- DNS administration
- Administers 12+ file servers
- Involved with PCI audits and reports
- DHCP – scope design and administration
- Backup and snapshot configuration, administration, recovery and testing
- Interfacing with Storage Area Network – currently HP Lefthand
- Secondary SAN Administrator.
- Event log Monitoring and maintenance
- Certificate management – SSL certs, application certs, etc.
- Manages 24+ software key servers
- Administers 12+ Vertical Market Application servers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read, write, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Preference given to those holding relevant IT Certifications such as (CompTIA A+/Network+, MCP/MCSA/MCSE, CCNA/CCNP)

- Power Shell Scripting
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2013
- Knowledge of virtualization platform (VmWare Administration via Vcenter)
- Knowledge of Azure, and Office 365
- 3+ years of working experience and above average knowledge of Windows Server roles and features (Active Directory, Exchange, DNS,DHCP,DFS, Group Policies)
- Able to provide written reports to director.
