Position summary
To assist in the administration and day-to-day running of the DSRE Department.
Qualifications summary
- Associate degree preferred
- Experience in academic environment preferred
- Familiar with AU policies and procedures & computer programs,
- Being able to multi-task
- Good interpersonal skills
- Positive spiritual attitude
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Draft the agenda and do minutes of Department of Discipleship & Religious Education meetings
- Help with Seminary projects, and coordinate the annual Adventist Conference on Family Research & Practice (meals, lodging, reservations, programs, music, meetings, etc.)
- Schedule meetings with faculty weekly and as needed
- Schedule appointment for professors
- Plan annual Orientation for news students
- Maintain the Department webpage
- Oversee the Graduate Assistant hours
- Plan/organize socials for students and professors
- Buy supplies (office, socials, etc.)
- Proctor classes as needed
- Help draft the yearly budget
- Coordinates the availability of courses a year in advance and submit changes as needed.
- Work and submit bulletin changes (annually)
- Make revisions to handbooks as needed
- Answer promptly phone and email inquiries about the programs offered by the Department
- Maintain academic records for the following programs: MARELED and PhD RELED and dual degree MARELED/SOWK
- Help with the recruitment of students, including meeting with visitors who inquire about the programs
- Track prospective students and send them program information as they request
- Track and process applications to the MA, and PhD programs (Be able to read transcripts and evaluate application materials, including foreign languages such as Portuguese and Spanish)
- Monitor students’ progress through their programs, telling students and their advisors about impending academic deadlines
- Meet/advise students
- Maintain active communication with students and follow up with their academic lives
- Maintain academic records for the following programs: MAYYAM, dual degrees MAYYAM/CID, MAYYAM/SOWK, and different emphases
- Help with the recruitment of students, including meeting with visitors who inquire about the programs

Qualifications
- Four-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Friendly and ministry-oriented with an attitude of warmth, caring, openness, and grace
- Strong organizational skills; effective at project management
- Excellent oral and written English language skills
- Dependable and takes “ownership” of his/her job
- Second language a plus
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, InfoPath Designer. Knowledge of Mac computers a plus
