Position summary
The Annual Giving Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the solicitation of unrestricted funds on an annual basis.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Must have computer skills that allow for research to be conducted via the internet, as well as word processing skills. Must have excellent writing skills.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Establish goals and objectives for the annual giving campaign and develop metrics for measuring success
- Create an operational plan for the annual phonathon, oversee student caller training and supervise callers during Fall Semester and Spring Semester campaigns.
- Develop and implement general direct mail solicitations for the annual giving program, as well as segmented appeals (young alums, lapsed donors, etc.)
- Work with campus departments to coordinate and advise on their fundraising efforts
- Work in conjunction with the reunion gift chair to coordinate 50-year reunion gift, identify potential donors, and develop solicitation strategies
- Utilize technology for increasing communication with donors and providing new avenues for receiving donations (e-mail solicitations, online giving, etc.)
- Develop and implement strategies for increasing alumni participation in the annual giving program
- Create and promote the student giving campaign, which places an emphasis on student participation in the annual giving program
- Work with Student Philanthropy Council as the staff advisor
- Participate in prospect research leading to donor identification and is responsible for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual giving donors
- Manage Development Facebook, Development Webpage and Development Giving Portal
- Prepare reports of significant donor contact and enters them into the Banner database
- Coordinate various donor recognition events as needed
- Work closely with Advancement colleagues in Alumni, Development, and Trust Services
- Manage the budget which covers the expenses of the Annual Giving program
- Other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate
Supervisory responsibilities
The Annual Giving Coordinator is responsible for hiring and supervising all student workers who are hired for Phonathon. This includes the student supervisors as well as all other student callers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of faculty, donors, students and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
- Proficiency with complex Word merge procedures
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft XP Office Suite (Excel, Word, internet)
- Proficiency with web management (updating Development website)
- Proficiency with data management system (Banner)
Interpersonal interactions
- Must be comfortable interacting with students in advisory role
- Must be collaborative and a team player, working well with the rest of the Advancement team
- This position requires someone who will interact with donors in a friendly, compassionate and professional manner at all times
Physical demands
This position requires someone to be able to work some evenings.
Work environment
The work environment is conducive to all work pertaining to raising funds for Andrews University. There is a conference room for group collaboration and an office designated for this position for doing research, planning, or making phone calls.
