Death of an Andrews University Student

It is with great sadness we share news of the death of Andrews University student Denroy Black. Denroy, a ThD student in the Seminary, died at the scene of an afternoon car crash today (Thursday, April 15) at Shawnee and Garr Roads in Berrien Springs. No other Andrews students were involved in the crash. Denroy was an international student from Jamaica. His dissertation was scheduled for July 2010. Denroy is survived by his wife, Marvelyn Williams Black, and their three children.

Additional information, including memorial and funeral information, will be shared as it becomes available.

Please join your University family in prayer as we mourn the loss of Denroy Black.

At the Inter-American Division's Seminary we mourn the death of Denroy. Jamaica has lost a promising scholar and a powerful preacher. He was more than a brilliant scholar, he was a humble and courteous Christian and a committed father. For me, was more, was a friend. We pray for his wife and his children. We will mourn him at the Inter-American Adventist Theological Seminary headquarters during this week. Blessings.

I pray that the Lord will bless, and comfort his family and friends through this trialsome time they are facing. We shall know that one day when Christ returns we will see our beloved brother agian safely in the arms of Jesus with a heavenly host with him.
