Listening to Classical Music

   Agenda | Posted on October 1, 2014

On Monday, October 6, Marianne Kordas, Andrews University music librarian, and Rev. David Alan Reed will present Listening to Classical Music at the Berrien Springs Community Library at 7pm.

Do you like Mozart's Eine kliene nacht musik? Have you wondered what makes classical music "classical"? Then this presentation is for you! We will explore the main musical genres of the early 18th century, Thomas Jefferson's violin-playing hobby, and the fascinating life of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, an Afro-French aristocrat, swordsman, composer, and violinist known as the "black Mozart."

There will be light refreshments and a chance to win CDs.
Co-curricular credit will be offered for Andrews University students.
All are welcome, and admission is FREE.
