Passing of Elly Economou, Long-time Professor at Andrews

Elly Economou, 83, long-time professor of biblical languages in the Andrews University Department of Religion & Biblical Languages, died Thursday, February 9, at Lakeland Healthcare in St. Joseph, Mich. No public funeral will be held, in respect of her personal wishes. A private burial service will take place and a memorial service in celebration of her life will be scheduled in the near future. Elly devoted her entire life to serving the church and provided exceptional teaching through Andrews University for many years. Her generosity was exemplary as she provided legendary hospitality to thousands of students, community members and international guests over the years. Please remember her many friends and family members in prayer as they go through this difficult loss.

AICER Faculty Research Symposium

There will be an AICER Faculty Research Symposium on Monday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in Bell Hall Room 13. Dr. Thom Wolf, who is the professor of Global Studies at University Institute in New Delhi, India, will present on the "Social Change and Development: A Research Template." This lecture brings together four power components of the stark reality in today's global world: the parallel existence of cultures of constraint and cultures of cultivation – that some societies are prone to encourage progress while others seem persistently to inhibit progress. GSA Banquet Tickets on Sale Now

Graduate Student Association (GSA) Valentine's Day Banquet tickets can be purchased at the Andrews University Bookstore, Student Life Office and the Seminary Commons. Tickets are $14 for Adults and $5 for Children.

KASA Banquet: Paris Amour

KASA's annual banquet will be on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Century Center in South Bend. There will be a photobooth, activies & games, performances and much more! Sign-ups will be until the end of this week at the student center.

Dining Services Hosting Valentine's Day Banquet

Andrews University Dining Services will be hosting an elegant Valentine’s Day Banquet for couples on February 14. The menu will feature fresh tomato & basil bruschetta on toasted crostini, house-made manicotti, fresh haricots verts (green beans), house-made caesar salad, freshly baked white chocolate cheesecake, and more. Group seating is welcome (with prior arrangement). Vegan and gluten-free meals will be made available upon request. We would like to reserve this event for couples and groups of couples only. Research Writing Refresher Workshop

Learn how to refresh your writing skills at the Research Writing Refresher Workshop on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the James White Library Instruction Lab. Discover tips on topic selection, developing a thesis, gathering and evaluating sources, taking notes, creating a working outline, writing a draft, and using and documenting sources. This workshop will be taught by Bruce Closser, Writing Center Director; Terry Robertson, Seminary Librarian; and Lauren Matacio, Instruction Librarian. TLC Conference in April
