President's Greetings

Dr. Niels-Erik AndreasenDear Andrews Alumni:

The news media are full of discussions about education, both in schools and colleges – the availability of education, the quality of it, the preparation and dedication of teachers, the values taught, and the cost of attending. Additionally Seventh-day Adventists believe that they have something important to add to a good education, and that is where Andrews comes in.

But what really does it take to provide a good Christian education at Andrews?  Here are my top five:

  1. Good students.  They do not all have to be geniuses (though a few would be nice), but they must be serious and motivated, and committed to a life of faith and learning.
  2. Good teachers. No amount of buildings, computers, labs and libraries can take the place of good teachers.
  3. Good programs.  Good educational programs form the basis for good educational products and that means a continuous flow of competent, committed Christian professionals moving from the halls of learning to the highways of life.
  4. Good friends and supporters.  Education is not a business and certainly not a for-profit operation.  Our students and their parents pay for only around 65% of the cost of their education.  Alumni, friends, our sponsoring church and others provide the rest.  Andrews relies on its many good friends to keep all its students in school.
  5. God's blessings.  Christian education is a leap of faith into a life of service. It depends upon God's blessings every day.

Thank you for your support of Andrews by pointing good students and teachers in our direction, for being dear friends and supporters of this amazing university, and most importantly - for your prayers.

Niels-Erik Andreasen
