Make Teacher Evaluations Available to Students

Each year, students encounter two common processes. At the beginning of a term, we select our courses. At the end of the term, we evaluate the professors of those courses. I believe it is time that these two processes become distinctly related. When choosing classes, students are often faced with the decision of choosing between an array of choices for the same course from various professors. With no previous knowledge of the professor or of their levels of effectiveness, this process can be the equivalent of a guess. Even with the casual poll of a circle of friends, the data gather can be an educated guess at best. With tuition at a cost of between $700-$1000 a credit, I believe students should make this expensive purchase with more information than an educated guess. Senate Action: Prepare, present and vigorously promote a proposal that allows data collected from teacher evaluations to be readily available to the student body.
