From May 14 to June 1, thirty-two Andrews students participated in a three week BFA sponsored art tour to Italy. Students visited all the major cities like Venice, Florence, and Rome, as well as traveling to several other historic sites like Pompeii, Siena, Padua, and Pisa. While on tour, students were able to earn 6 undergraduate credits in art or architectural history, photography classes in documentation, and studio classes like advanced drawing and painting.

Tours like this offer students the exceptional opportunity of experiencing art firsthand as well as learning about foreign cultures and different ways of living and experiencing life.

"I liked how the tour involved as much as it could.  Even though it crammed a lot into three weeks it was well worth it," stated one student. Other comments from students are as follows: "It was a good trip and well planned. The leaders balanced each other out and it was just an overall amazing trip." "I liked the hotels and the little quaint towns best of all. Assisi was my favorite!"

Beautiful Venice

The Department of Art & Design and Digital Media and Photography are planning on scheduling regular BFA tours every summer to places like Italy. Next summer look for opportunities to travel to Jordan and Egypt!!!
