Financial Assistance
Students who are accepted into the CIDP graduate program may qualify for financial assistance through some of the following means:
Graduate Assistantship
The Department of Behavioral Sciences, through the Community and International Development Program, is making available a limited number of graduate research assistantships. Duties and responsibilities will be addressed in a special graduate research assistant document. For more information, contact the program director at mioarad@andrews.edu.
Graduate Scholarship Program
The university’s new Graduate Scholarship Program offers scholarships to eligible students in most entry-level graduate programs. The graduate scholarships will offer, for those who qualify, an overall percentage discount on the specific tuition for that student’s program, based on the student’s GRE scores.
Scholarships are calculated as a percent of tuition and are awarded as follows: Those with a GRE score of 1000 will receive a scholarship equal to 10% of tuition; those with 1200, 25% of tuition; and those with 1300, 50% of tuition. For students who have taken the exam more than once, the latest exam scores (prior to enrollment) will be considered. For more information, see http://www.andrews.edu/grad/scholarship/index.html.
FAFSA
US Citizens and permanent residents are elegible to apply for funds through use of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). More information on this and other funding options is available here.
Student Loans
Information on elegibility and the types of loans available can be obtained here.
Employing Organization or Government
If you are employed by an organization that has an interest in community and international development, you may be able to receive financial assistance from that organization.
Some governments provide scholarships for their citizens. International students who are not elegible for US federal aid will want to be sure to look into this possible option.
GI Bill
The new post-9/11 GI BIll offers veterans funding for training pursued on or after August 1, 2009. Based on your length of active duty service, you are entitled to a percentage of the cost of tuition and fees, not to exceed $9792.20 per term. A monthly housing allowance, as well as a stipend for books and supplies, may also be available. For more information on elegibility and maximum benefits based on your service time, visit http://www.gibill.va.gov.
Early applicants have the best opportunity for outside funding. For more information, please contact cidp@andrews.edu.
