Graduate Program

Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences

The Department of Clinical and Laboratory Sciences offers a graduate program leading to the Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences(MSCLS). Our MSCLS degree is a professional degree designed to meet the needs of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) in an increasingly complex healthcare environment. With the amount of, and demand for, laboratory testing increasing each year, a significant need exists for CLS professionals, but particularly for individuals with advanced technical knowledge, management skills, and leadership abilities. In response to the diversity of career skills required by the clinical laboratory scientist (medical technologist), the degree features a variety of program emphases, including concentrations in biomedical sciences, business and management, and education.

Our professional degree program includes a clinical experience. It features at least 5 semester credits of advanced, hands-on CLS studies at one of our nationwide affiliate clinical or research facilities. Areas of study include clinical microbiology, clinical chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, laboratory administration, or clinical laboratory science education.

With a masters level degree, you will be equipped to become a leader in healthcare. Depending on the area of specialization, graduates of the MSCLS Program are qualified for several leadership positions in the CLS field. Graduates of the Program have become laboratory managers or supervisors, educators, laboratory information systems directors, healthcare administrators, or researchers. Our goals is to prepare you for today’s global work environment, to help you develop the skills needed for excellence in healthcare, and to encourage a dedication to improving the human condition.
