ACE

ACE stands for two things: Academic Christian Experience and Andrews Communication Experience.  Come and live it with us.

You will develop the skills of thinking and learning by practice and application of the theory of communication--in as many ways as possible.  As a close-knit department, we enjoy participating in fun activities as a family.  Because communication is about empathy and learning to live authentically in relationships with both Christ and our fellow beings, we socialize and worship together.  Our student-run Communication Club, and our honors club, Lambda Pi Eta, plan social, spiritual and academic events throughout the year.  We put our communication skills into practice when we get together.

ACE extends into our classrooms and scholarly relationships as well.  Group work, journals, logbooks, speeches, presentations, and analyses of communication events are all part of our philosophy of active learning.  The teachers are committed to quality instruction, and Communication faculty members have even received "Best Advisor" and "Teacher of the Year" awards as proof of their committment.  In addition excellent students, many of whom hold leadership positions in the university, surround you.

Our department also connects with local organizations to provide students with practical work experience.  Communication students are pictured above with NBC's Don Teague (3rd from right) and Rafraf Barrack (2nd from left) after a session on journalism.  ACE allows for opportunities to develop and grow by participating in internships, practicums, and career planning sessions.  Additional real-world experience include areas such as pre-production, media directing and production, broadcasting, camera work, news reporting, and event planning.  In the end, a portfolio is the product of this journey and serves to evidence the marketability of each student.
