Biography:
"We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are."-Anais Nin
Gradually, through formal studies at Pacific Union College, Ohio State University, and San Diego State University, and then Andrews University, I continued furthering my education. However, far more of my learning has taken place just living among people of various cultures, learning new languages and adjusting to the interruptions. I have traveled in five continents and lived in four countries. Both school and travel have taught me to see life through a variety of perspectives.
In my current position as director of the intensive English programs at Andrews University, I teach reading analysis, writing skills, and TESL methods. My teaching areas include training for administration, methods for teaching, American literature, composition, English as a foreign language and a second language, teaching and learning. The seminars and workshops I have facilitated include cooperative learning, faith building, healthful living, learning styles, parenting, portfolio preparation, relationships, women in the church, writing, and writing for publication.
I am the mother of three, grandmother of six, and great grandmother of two. I enjoy walking along the beach, reading, editing, and traveling. I am most happy immersed in various cultural experiences and interacting with international students. As Emily Dickinson says, "To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else."
