Minor in Fitness Education

New since Fall 2009!


We are pleased to announce the implementation of our new minor.

Required Courses (22 credits) 

  • BIOL111 - Anatomy & Physiology 1 (4 credits)
  • BIOL112 - Anatomy & Physiology 2 (3 credits)
  • BIOL113 - Anatomy & Physiology 3 (1 credit)
  • FTES465 - Exercise Physiology (4 credits)
  • FDNT230 - Nutrition (3 credits)
  • FTES305 - Current Concepts and Applications in Physical Fitness (2 credits)
  • FTES355 - Methods of Fitness Instruction (3 credits)
  • FTES214 - Weight Training & Conditioning (1 credit)
  • FTES210 - Personal Fitness Plan (1 credit) 

NOTES:

  • FTES stands for 'Fitness & Exercise Studies'
  • FTES305 is offered in the Fall 09
  • FTES355 is offered in the Spring 2010
  • Students must complete course work for the minor with a minimum grade of C in each course
  • Current CPR & First Aid certification required
  • We will become an American Council on Exercise (ACE) testing site and students can choose to get certified in the following areas upon completion of the course work: Personal Training, Group Fitness Instruction
