Biography:
Brent Geraty is assistant professor of legal studies and the general counsel for Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Mich. He joined the faculty in 2000.

Geraty was born in Berrien Springs, Mich., where he attended Ruth Murdoch Elementary School, Andrews Academy and graduated from Andrews University in 1991 with his master's in history.

In 1990, Geraty graduated from Atlantic Union College with his bachelor's in history and business administration. After finishing his master's at Andrews, Geraty went to Yale Law School, specializing in employment law and earned his Juris Doctor in 1995.

While at Yale, Geraty was named a Coker Fellow in constitutional law and served as an articles editor for the Yale Law & Policy Review. After graduating from law school, he practiced at law firms in Boston, Mass., and Portland, Maine, where his practice concentrated on employment discrimination litigation.

Geraty's duties at Andrews involve providing legal counsel for the university as well as monitoring and managing legal services provide by outside counsel. As an assistant professor of legal studies, he is redesigning the pre-law program.

He is married to Shannon Ganter Geraty. They have one son and one daughter.
