History Tour Tentative Itinerary 2013

May 29  Depart Chicago for Amman, Jordan

May 30 Arrive Amman, Jordan. Check into the Miriam Hotel, Madaba, Jordan.

May  31 Breakfast and orientation. Amman city tour ½ day. Vespers at Mt. Nebo.

June 1 Day trip to John the Baptist site. Sabbath School/Church. Afternoon Free.

June 2 Day trip to Umm Qeis (biblical Gerazim) and Jerash.

June 3 Classes: 10-12p; 2-4p. Visit Madaba Plains sites.

June 4 Class in the morning 10-12. Walking tour of Madaba in the afternoon.

June 5 Classes: 10-12p; 2-4p. Visit the Mosque and Churches of Madaba.

June 6 Classes 10-12p. ½ trip to Kerak castle.

June 7 Trip to Petra: Waking tour to the Treasury. Vespers at the high place. Overnight at the Petra Palace

June 8 Day trip into the park; visit the Monestary. Church at the Corinthian tombs. Free afternoon.

June 9:  Bus to Aqaba, Jordan. Ferry to Nuweiba, Egypt. Arrive Nuweiba Port. Meet and assist. The rest of the day is free at leisure to enjoy the facilities at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Taba.

June 10: Drive to St. Catherine. 2h 30m. Dinner and Overnight in St. Catherine.

June 11: Early Morning, climb Moses Mountain. It was this mountain where Moses received the Ten Commandments. Descend for breakfast at the hotel. Visit St. Catherine’s monastery. Drive to Cairo. On route, visit Marah, Elim and Rafedim. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.

June 12: Full day tour in Cairo. Visit the Pyramids, Sphinx, Memphis and Sakkara. In the afternoon, transfer to the sleeping train heading to Aswan. Dinner and overnight on board of the sleeping train.

June 13: Arrive Aswan. Optional Abu Simbel excursion by flight. Embarkation before lunch. Visit the High Dam , the Unfinished Obelisk & Sailing by Felucca & view of the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Sailing to Kom Ombo , Overnight at Kom Ombo

June 14: Aswan / Kom Ombo / Edfu. Visit the temple shared by two Gods Sobek and Haroeris. Sailing to Edfu , visit the temple of Horus Sailing to Luxor passing through the Esna lock

June 15: Esna / Luxor. Sailing to Luxor passing through the Esna Lock. Upon arrival time in Luxor visit Luxor Temple in the evening. Overnight in Luxor

June 16: Cross the West Bank to visit Thebes Necropolis, Valley of the Kings, El Deir El Bahari of Hatshepsut and Colossi of Memnon facing the Nile. Overnight on board.

June 17: Disembarkation after breakfast. Fly Back to Cairo.

June 18: Full day tour in Cairo. Visit the Egyptian Museum which is located in Tahrir square where the revolution took place. Next we visit Old Cairo churches and the citadel, Mohamed Ali mosque. Overnight in Cairo.

June 19: Departure after breakfast.
