Biography:

Christina Gibson began her musical career at the age of eleven. She moved to Southwest Michigan in 1997 and currently teaches flute at Andrews University, Lake Michigan College and Southwestern Michigan College. As an active musician, she has performed throughout the United States and in Canada. She has had the opportunity to share the stage with performers Shirley Jones, Allen Vizzutti, and Jim Walker, as well as legendary conductors/composers Alfred Reed, Francis McBeth and Col. John Bourgeois (United States Marine Band "The President's Own," retired). Mrs. Gibson has enjoyed performing with various large and chamber ensembles, as well as in musical orchestras in  Southwest Michigan and Indiana.
Mrs. Gibson is most proud of her students' accomplishments. Her students have performed it the United States, Asia and throughout Europe. They have attended Interlochen Fine Arts Camp, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and have participated in the Lake Michigan and South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestras. Mrs. Gibson has also had students qualify for the Michigan Youth Fine Arts Concerto Competition, All-Michigan Orchestra, and perform as members of the All-Michigan Honors Band. Several of her students have gone on to study and perform at Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Vandercook College of Music, the University of Notre Dame, Central Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Cleveland State University and Central State University.
Mrs. Gibson graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelors degree from Ball State University and earned her Masters degree from Southern Oregon University. She has studied with Dr. Julia Mattern and Ms. Loretta Contino, and has performed in master classes with Katherine Borst-Jones and Jim Walker. While attending Ball State University, Mrs. Gibson was awarded the College of Fine Arts Citizenship Award and was the initial recipient of the coveted Earl Dunn Senior Band Scholarship.
She currently lives in Niles with her wonderful husband Bill and her two children Billy and Elizabeth.
