Biography:

Julia Lindsay, soprano, is coordinator for voice studies and freshman advisor in the Department of Music at Andrews University. She holds a Master of Music degree from Andrews University and was a post-graduate student of Carol Smith at Indiana University, Bloomington.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Lindsay maintains an active solo career throughout the United States and in Europe. During the summers of 1989 and 1992, she was principal soloist for the Newbold Summer Music Festival in England, touring with the Festival throughout England, Scotland, Belgium and France (1989). In 1991, she was featured as principal soprano soloist for the 1991 Columbia River Music Festival in Southeastern Washinton. Locally, she has performed in the Michiana Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Series and with St. Joseph Pro Musica. Ms. Lindsay is also the Associate Choral Director for the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra.

Among the major works in which she has appeared as soloist are as follows: Gorecki's Symphony No. 3; Mozart's Requiem and Mass in C; Bach's Cantatas 63 and 191; Handel's Dixit Dominus and Messiah; Haydn's Missa in tempori belli, Nelson Mass, and Creation; Brahms' A German Requiem; Finzi's In Terra Pax, and Requiems by Maurice Durufle, John Rutterm and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Ms. Lindsay has also appeared in the lead roles of Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors and Trial by Jury by Gilbert and Sullivan, as well as in numerous art-song recitals.
