Application Process

Applying to our Dietetic Internship is a 3 step process:
Step #1 - DICAS Application
Step #2 - Supplemental Information & Application Fee
Step #3 - D&D Digital Computer Matching

NOTE: APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 15th. Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for DPD and undergraduate courses is required. Students with an overall GPA of 3.2 (or above), who also have some relevant work experience, and are given priority. Graduate student applicants are also given priority.
 

STEP #1: DICAS APPLICATION

 

  • Our program participates in the online DICAS (Dietetic Internship Centralized Application System). Please email DICASinfo@DICAS.org for more information.
  • To access DICAS please visit https://portal.dicas.org (*Note: DICAS will not be available until after December 1, 2011, for the Spring 2012 match). The online application MUST be completed for our program by 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time on February 15, 2012.
  • The fee to use DICAS is $40.00 for the first application submitted, and $20.00 for each additional application. Our program requires an additional fee of $50.00 (see Step #2 for fee information).
  • When completeing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an email address) for all three references*. This will trigger an email message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online. Students submitting more than one application will need to use the same individuals as references for each application. (*Please note that there must be at least one from a teacher (preferable the DPD director) and from a work supervisor, the third can be another DPD teacher.
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended should be sent to:

  • All applications are screened for completion and presentation, GPA, work experience, community involvement, references and personal letter.

  • Applicants who meet the screening criteria may be called for a phone interview. After the interview process, applicants are ranked by the Andrews University Dietetic selection committee. The ranking is sent to D&D Digital Systems for computer matching.

  • On the DICAS application - applicants will be asked to complete a personal statement in 800 -1,000 words.  Questions to be addressed in the personal statement include:

    - Why do you want to enter the profession of dietetics?
    - What are your long term goals?
    - Why have you chosen Andrews University to do your internship?
    - What experiences have you had in preparing for the Dietetic Internship
    ?

 

Step #2 - Supplemental Information & Application Fee

Our program participates requires additional information for the application process through us to be complete.

  • We require a $50.00 application fee* that is to be sent to

  • Along with the application fee, we require that you complete the Andrews University Additional Information Requested form, and send it in with the application fee.


    *Fees subject to change annually.
Step #3 - D&D Digital Computer Matching
  • Each applicant must register for matching with D&D Digital to create/edit/verify their prioritized list of DI Internships by 11:59 pm Central Time on February 15, 2012. There is a $50 computer matching fee to D&D Digital payable when your priority choices are identified.
  • The student applicant will be notified of acceptance/rejection by April 1, 2012 (notification day). Applicant matching results for each applicant will be posted on www.dnddigital.com from 6:00pm Central Time through April 3, 2012 (appointment day), This is the ONLY source of notification for applicants. Each applicant will receive either ONE MATCH or NO MATCH after Log In. All applicants who receive ON MATCH will find the matched DI Program name and contact information to accept appointment. The MATCHED DI program is planning that the MATCH will be accepted. MATCHED applicants must contact the DI program on Notification or Appointment Day to confirm the acceptance of the MATCH. No arrangements should be made with any other DI programs. Applicants who recieved NO MATCH will be given other instructions.
