Nutrition and Wellness

The M.S. in Nutrition and Wellness is offered through the Department of Nutrition & Wellness and is a graduate program of the College of Arts and Sciences at Andrews University.

This new program incorporates:

  • Basic knowledge of running a wellness program
  • The ability to serve the public with responsible public education
  • Promotion of lifestyle change

Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with an overall GPA of 2.6 and have completed the following prerequisites:

  • Intro to Chemistry
  • Biochemistry
  • Basic Nutrition
  • Advanced Nutrition
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Statistics

Three options are available for completing the M.S. in Nutrition and Wellness.


Project Requirements

Option #1
Completion of research thesis.

Option #2
Non-thesis option available only to those planning to seek registration with the American Dietetic Association (ADA). This option includes completion of a Dietetic Internship that involves 8 months of full-time work in the areas of clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and food service administration. Students who choose this option need to take the following classes outlined in this section:

  • PETH  460       Exercise Physiology  (4 credits)

Option #3
Non-thesis option that involves completion of a research project rather than a research thesis.

Option #2 Dietetic Internship

*Electives are selected in consultation with a graduate advisor. May include any of the following:

PSYC 471      Behavior Modification (3 cr)

The following courses are necessary for those students who already have a Bachelor's Degree and want to be candidates for an 8-month Dietetic Internship in order to be eligible to seek registration with the American Dietetic Association (ADA). After successful completion of the ADA exam the student becomes a Registered Dietitian.
