Nick Valles Presents at LIGO Meeting
Nicholas Valles presented his work at the March 2008 meeting of the
LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC) in Pasadena, California. His talk
was titled "Web Interface for Human-Generated Data Quality Flags" and
included a demonstration of the website he developed which will be
used to collect and organize information on events that could
compromise the quality of the data produced by the LIGO detectors.
LIGO stands for the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave
Observatory and consists of three detectors designed to measure
gravitational waves, the faint ripples in the fabric of spacetime
caused by astronomical events such as black hole collisions and
supernova explosions. The LSC members present expressed gratitude for
Nick's work on this valuable tool that will aid in ensuring data
quality.
