Biography:
Sue Murray is assistant professor of family studies at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Mich. She joined the faculty in 1996.Born in Oakland, Calif., Murray attended Walla Walla College, College Place, Wash., before graduating from Atlantic Union College, South Lancaster, Mass., in 1977 with a bachelor�s degree in home economics. In 1981, she earned a master�s degree in home economics from Andrews. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Capella University, Minneapolis, Minn., studying human services with an emphasis in marriage and family.
In 1973, Murray began teaching home economics at Blue Mountain Academy in Hamburg, Pa. When she first came to Andrews in 1977, she worked as an administrative secretary and contract teacher. For ten years, from 1981 to 1991, she taught home economics in the Andrews Home Economics, Nutrition and Family Studies Department.
She holds certification as a family life educator through the National Council on Family Relations and is certified in family and consumer sciences through the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Murray is also licensed by the State of Michigan as a marriage and family therapist.
Along with her husband Donald, she is a co-sponsor of Andrews premarital programming and co-founder of Adventist Engaged Encounter.
In 1996 she co-authored �Mom to Mom: Heart to Heart,� a parenting book published by the Review and Herald Publishing Association.
She is married to Donald Murray. They have two married children, Marcia Jo and Ryan Matthew; and one grandchild.
