Biography:
David A. Sedlacek, Ph.D., LCSW, Professor of Social Work, joined the Andrews University Social Work faculty in June 2009. For the previous five years he was an Associate Professor with the Social Work Department at Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. While at Oakwood, Dr. Sedlacek founded and directed the New Beginnings Resource Center for Single Parents, located on the campus of Oakwood University.
For over 35 years, Dr. Sedlacek has served in numerous professional social work capacities including direct practice, administration, research, and education. He also served as pastor of the Ashtabula Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Ohio Conference. His passion is integrating faith and practice. As a result, he has taken a leadership role in developing a collaborative between the Theological Seminary and the Department of Social Work at Andrews University. Dr. Sedlacek and his wife Beverly co-direct Into HIS Rest Ministries, a Christian counseling ministry. They speak internationally, conduct seminars and retreats, and have written a book entitled "Cleansing the Sanctuary of the Heart: Tools for Emotional Healing."
David & Beverly have five children and 10 grandchildren. David loves the outdoors, creative landscaping, tennis, and golf.
