Biography:
Roy Villafane teaches Computer Science courses. He compares computing to playing with Lego toys--basically using various basic building blocks to build infinitely many things--and shares this enthusiasm with students. Prior to working at Andrews University he worked at Symantec Corporation as a Software Engineer and also worked in Information Technology for various departments at the University of Central Florida. He enjoys teaching courses on a variety of computing topics. While his favorite hobby is also computing, he enjoys "transportation sports" (that go beyond manipulating a ball in a rectangular area) such as cycling and rollerblading, and likes conversations on solving the world's problems.
Current Research or Professional Activities:
Roy Villafane's research interests are in the areas of data mining, high performance computing, distributed computing, operating systems, and other general/multimedia data manipulation and computer systems areas. He has published various papers in these areas.
