This course is designed to give students basic computer concepts and practical experience in the use of the computer. Using software applications packages such as word processing, electronic spreadsheets, graphics, and database management, students will learn to input and output data useful in professional and personal pursuits.

Prerequisite: MATH 052, placement test, or 30th percentile on ACT or SAT Math
An introduction to the capabilities and uses of computer technology. In addition to the basic hardware components of computer systems, students will be introduced to the Internet, word processing, electronic spreadsheets, databases, programming, and career opportunities available in the computer field. This course includes hands-on instruction. Credit for this course does not apply toward a major or minor in computer science, but it does apply toward the general education Core Competency requirement. Available online only.
