Description of Services:
Specialized Reading Tutoring:
Trained tutors are available for clients from K-Adult. Reading Specialists are also available for clients with special reading needs
Reading Assessment:
Full battery of tests designed to assess vocabulary, comprehension, and other reading skills. Focuses on intervention to be used in strengthening reading skills.
Educational Assessment:
Individualized holistic assessment designed to assess learning strengths, academic areas, and strategies for strengthening academic performance.
Tutorial Computer Software:
PLATO - Self-managed tutorial program for math, science, language arts, and history concepts. Various other subject-area software, including ACT/SAT Prep, GRE Test Prep
Library:
Provides books and tapes for pre-readers through adults for use on a temporary or ongoing basis. Also available: assorted videos on reading instruction and tutoring techniques.
General:
Tutoring available for all ages in general subject areas.
Fast ForWord Computer Training:
Strategic computer-based program that “retrains” the brain to
develop skills in language and reading skills such as auditory
processing speed, working memory, phonological awareness, listening
and reading comprehension, syntax, and grammar. Parents must pay
a license fee directly to the company, however, Center monitors
progress and assessment.
