MLK Celebration: New Life Worship
|DATE/TIME||January 16, 2010 11:30am-12:20pm|
The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Andrews University runs January 14â19, 2010. The weekâs theme, âBuilding the Beloved Community: Transforming Minds...Redeeming Humanity,â aims to inspire others to continue the social justice legacy of Dr. King through speakers, co-curricular discussions, service events and a scholarly symposium.
Each year, Andrews observes a tradition of having a student present one of Dr. Kingâs sermons. This yearâs honored student, Morgan Medlock, a seminarian, will present, âWhy Jesus Called a Man a Fool,â during the New Life Fellowship Worship Service on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11:30 a.m. in the Seminary Chapel in the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. This sermon was originally presented by Dr. King at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, Ill., on August 27, 1967.
