Family Celebration Sabbath 2009 is the 3rd Annual weekend of its kind to take place on the campus of Andrews University. Offering worship, inspiration, and Scripture-based guidance, Family Celebration Sabbath was designed to be of encouragement and help to hurting families and those who minister to them. It has sought to not only reach out to the Religious Education and Family Life Students but has been a resource for the community as well.
This year's topic for Family Celebration Sabbath will be Human Sexuality and the keynote speaker for the weekend will be author and specialist Dr. Mark Laaser. Dr. Laaser's first book, now called Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction, was the first Christian book to address the issue of sexual addiction. He has since written six other books including, Talking to Your Kids about Sex and The Pornography Trap (with Dr. Ralph Earle). He has also ministered to sex addicts and their families and consulted with numerous churches and hospitals to develop treatment programs.
The music for the weekend will be led by Pastor Terrance Taylor, former Youth and Associate Pastor at Emerald City SDA Church in Seattle, WA and current Master of Divinity student. Terrance loves to see people worship God in their own culture and personal contexts and desires to see true diversity and unity in God's church.
On July 17-18, 2009, Ministry Professionals, Helping Professionals, Family Life Specialists and Students will gather together to better understand the tough issues that people face today and to learn how to better serve them and help them in our different professions. Join us for a weekend of inspiring worship, engaging dialogue, and practical learning on the subject of Human Sexuality and Sexual Addictions.
