Dr. Mark Laaser, prominent author and speaker, will be presenting on the topics of pornography and sexual addictions at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, July 17-18, 2009. His presentations will be a part of Family Celebration Sabbath 2009 and will take place on the campus of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, MI 49104. Laaserís presentations, which begin Friday evening at 8:00 PM, are free and open to the community. A special invitation is extended to helping professionals, family ministry leaders, family life educators and students.

The Family Celebration Sabbath weekend will include inspirational praise and worship as well as insightful presentations on human sexuality, all intended to give real help and support to real issues facing todayís families.

Laaser received his Master in Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary and holds a PhD in Religion and Psychology from the University of Iowa. His first book, now called Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction, was the first Christian book to address the issue of sexual addiction. He has since written six other books including, Talking to Your Kids about Sex and The Pornography Trap (with Dr. Ralph Earle). He has also ministered to sex addicts and their families and consulted with numerous churches and hospitals to develop treatment programs. The music for the weekend will be led by Pastor Terrance Taylor, former Youth and Associate Pastor at Emerald City SDA Church in Seattle, WA and current Master of Divinity student. Offering worship, inspiration, and Scripture-based guidance, Family Celebration Sabbath is designed to be of encouragement and help to hurting families and those who minister to them.

Terrance Taylor was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and later moved to Seattle, Washington where he attended Auburn Adventist Academy and first felt his call to ministry. He received his B.A. in Theology from Walla Walla University and then received a call to Emerald City Seventh-day Adventist church where he served for two years as an associate minister. Terrance loves to see people worship God in their own culture and personal contexts and desires to see true diversity and unity in Godís church. Praise and worship are his passions but he feels particularly led to discipleship and finding creative ways to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Family Celebration Sabbath is sponsored by Adventist Association of Family Life Professionals, AdventSource, Andrews University Religious Education Program, General Conference Family Ministries, and North American Division Family Ministries.
