Roundtable 2005 Program
New Arrangement of Roundtable and International Flags for Opening Ceremony
We heard you when you let us know that our circle of chairs and flags had grown too vast and was no longer acoustically sound. Look for a fresh, new look for our opening ceremony. You will enjoy meaningful interaction around roundtables for 8 – 10 people and our colorful international flags will be prominently displayed to feature our ethnic, cultural and international diversity.
Advisor Appointments
Because of our full schedule, you are encouraged to contact your advisor for an appointment before or after the conference and only if you are unable to meet with your advisor any other time of the year.
Jousting Sessions
We would like to encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to visit our participants’ tables where they will display their competency expertise and research for their dissertation topics and MA research projects. During the last 15 minutes of the half-hour Jousting Sessions, 8 – 10 participants at each table will be able to ask questions in a friendly “joust”.
Cohort Socials
The annual Cohort Social, held this year on Monday night of the conference, has become one of the most looked-forward-to yearly events. Yearly cohorts members are free to plan for their own evenings of food and fellowship for the Monday evening of Roundtable 2005.
Program and Reception at the Howard Performing Arts Center
You are invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres at a special reception to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Leadership program, on Tuesday, July 20th at the campus’s beautiful, newly erected Howard Performing Arts Center. Following the reception, everyone will be seated in the spacious auditorium to enjoy a musical program, offered in cooperation with Dr. Peter Cooper, Chair of the Musical Department, to celebrate music and leadership.
If you would like to bring a guest to the celebration, be sure to fill out the banquet section in Part A when you register. Registered Round Table participants can attend without extra charge; additional tickets for guests are available for $20 each.
Location
The Summer Conference, Roundtable 2005, will again be held at the Mendel Center, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Located about 30 minutes from Andrews University, this conference center provides an environment conducive to the Roundtable experience.
The Mendel Center is located on Napier Avenue, just off Interstate 94, Exit 30, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Take Napier Avenue east. Turn left on the second entrance to Lake Michigan College; then turn left into the second parking area (just beyond the building).
Transportation
You are responsible for finding transportation to the Mendel Center for RT 2003. If you would like to request that a shuttle bus be provided, contact the University Transportation Office at 800-253-2874, extension 3519 or 269-471-3519.
Lodging
Rooms have again been reserved in Lamson and Meier Halls. If you would like to stay on campus with a spouse, you may call 269-471-3295, option 1 to make arrangements or you may e-mail visitors@andrews.edu and also mention that you are attending the Leadership Roundtable. Other options would be to stay in one of the motels closer to the Mendel Center. Special rooms have been reserved at area hotels for a limited time and can be found on this grid at this weblink: http://www.andrews.edu/leaderpart/docs/roundtableAcc.pdf Because our Roundtable takes place during the peak tourist season in which the Venetian Festival is held in St. Joseph, Michigan, you’ll want to reserve your room as soon as possible. Additionally, there is a directory of off campus accommodations on the web at http://www.andrews.edu/visitors/stay/stay_off.php3. Some motels along I-94 are listed below.
Roundtable 2005 Registration Cost
The 2005 Roundtable Registration Fee is a $395 convention fee which includes:
Additional tickets for the Tuesday evening reception and musical program may be purchased for guests through our office at $20 per person. (Monday night suppers are to be planned by the annual cohorts and you are on your own for the Sunday night supper.)
