What
is Notices by Email?
Notices by Email means that library notices are send to patrons using email instead of printing and then mailing them. These notices include overdue notices and hold pickup notice.
There are two reasons for using Notices by Email. By using email the patron can receive the notice faster then snail mail especially if they are located some distance from the campus. A second reason is that the cost of handling, paper, and postage is eliminated for the library.
The library will send email notices to the patron address of record. This address is known to the Client Services and is supplied to all students at registration. If you need to find out your address contact the Client Services at ITS
If you do not have an email address then notices will be mailed to you. However, all students of Andrews University have an official email address. Most, but not all., faculty and staff also have an official email. address.
Email sent to your campus email address can be automatically forwarded to your preferred email address. During registration you will be given an opportunity to provide an emaill address to forward to. You may go to https://secure.andrews.edu/access/pm/mailfwd.cgiand click on Mail Forwarding Management. You will need to have your AU email account name and password. You may also contact the Client Services at ITS.
Contact Client Services at ITS and make arrangements with them.
Community patrons and other non university patrons may provide the library with an email address to receive email notices However, students, faculty, and staff of Andrews University, Andrews Academy, Ruth Murdock Elementary will have notices sent to their official email address. That email address is determined by Client Services and not the Library.
Notices by Email allows the library to change to send notices with the expectation that you will receive a notice of overdue before any fines are imposed. By returning the item quickly you may be able to avoid an overdue fine.
Notices by Email is in operation now. It started on August 18, 2003.
