International Plant Names Index
The International Plant Names Index (IPNI) is a database of the names and
associated basic bibliographical details of all seed plants, ferns and
fern allies.
Its goal is to eliminate the need for repeated reference to
primary sources for basic bibliographic information about plant names.
The data are freely available and are gradually being standardized and
checked.
IPNI will be a dynamic resource, depending on direct
contributions by all members of the botanical community.

ScaleNet
This site is all about scale insects (Coccoidea): a group of insects
comprised of about 7,355 species.
Scale insects vary dramatically in their appearance from very small
organisms (1-2mm) that occur under wax covers (some look like oyster
shells), to shiny pearl-like objects (about 5mm), to creatures covered
with mealy wax.
They spend most or all of their lives feeding on plants and are primarily
important as plant pests in greenhouses, backyards, and on fruit trees
