Another frontier aspect of this new approach is its distinctly urban environment. When the Seventh-day Adventist Church began its global mission in 1873, about 20% of the world lived in cities. Today that number has risen to 49%, and will pass the 50% mark by the end of this decade. Cities are exploding all over the world, but especially within the 10/40 window. By focusing on areas such as business, education, and communication, tentmakers will generally work in urban areas. Working together with the church's Center for Global Urban Mission, The Institute of World Mission is identifying specific cities as high priority target areas.
