| For 26 years the Institute of World Mission has
been training missionaries for cross-cultural work. Now Global Mission and the General
Conference Secretariat have asked the Institute to develop a new and very innovative
mission program to place non-traditional missionaries in areas and countries closed to
traditional missionaries. This bold new approach operates under the title of Global
Partnerships. Global Partnerships encourages, trains and offers spiritual support to people willing to live abroad for the purpose of witnessing, using their profession or vocation as a platform for evangelism. It encourages these cross-cultural workers to create their own businesses or to find a local job or it will link them with available job opportunities in areas not easily available or closed to traditional missionaries. Global Partnerships will help to train these "tentmakers" for cross-cultural soul winning and will nurture them while they are in the field.
