The following is information regarding the requirements for application to the School of Architecture.
Acceptance to Andrews University does not mean acceptance into the School of Architecture or the professional degree program. Students must meet the minimum GPA requirements to proceed from Pre-Arch Year One to Pre-Arch Year Two. Upon the completion of the pre-architecture years in the School of Architecture students must apply for acceptance into the professional program. Application packets specifying standards for acceptance are available from the school office. Upon acceptance to the Professional Program, a student should complete Professional Year One & Two and would graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture (a non-professional degree). A student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 to continue into Professional Year Three. Upon completion of Professional Year Three a student will receive the Master of Architecture degree (M.Arch).

The Andrews University undergraduate application is considered under a rolling admissions policy. If applying for advanced standing (third or fourth year), School applications are due either February 25, for early notification, or May 25.

- Undergraduate First Professional Degree Track Application
- A non-refundable application fee of $45 (U.S.)
- A letter of intent--The letter should explain why you have chosen architecture as your major and why you have chosen to pursue your professional degree at Andrews University. It should also indicate what you will contribute to the School in regards to its mission and values.
- Portfolio of work--See application packet for details regarding size and content
- Three recommendation forms--From three non-relative individuals. Two of the three should be from academic sources.
Transfer applicants who have had no previous course work in architectural design must complete the foundation (or "pre-architecture") years and then make formal application to the professional program.
Transfer students from another architecture program may apply for advanced standing (third or fourth year) in the professional program. The School of Architecture does not accept applications to the fifth year of study. Students desiring to apply for advanced standing should make formal application to the professional program.
Tentative placement into the design sequence is made after the Admissions committee has evaluated the student's submission. After one semester, the student is given final placement in the design sequence and, on the basis of transfer-course evaluations, receives credit for previous academic work toward the Andrews University degree.
Transfer Summer Studio
Prior to application, student must have a transcript analysis done by the School of Architecture to determine if the summer studio is best for their situation. Application to the Summer Studio is made by filling out an Andrews University undergraduate application. Students applying to this program, in addition to applying to Andrews University, must also contact the School of Architecture directly to confirm their reservation for the class. The deadline for reserving seats is April 15.
A U.S. $300.00 non-refundable deposit is necessary to facilitate this process. The deposit will be applied to the summer tuition. Payment should be made out to Andrews University, The School of Architecture, Art & Design.
