In graduate school Professor Homenchuk served as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate second year studio and for an elective in computer graphics. Prior to attending graduate school, professional experience was gained working in two architectural offices in Chicago; Tannys Langdon Associates, LLC and CTE Engineers. Professional work continued while in graduate school at Urban Design Associates in Pittsburgh, PA, and Thomas Gordon Smith Architects in South Bend, Indiana. To help facilitate the continued development of computer graphics in the field of architecture, Professor Homenchuk serves as an officer for the Michigan Design Educators Association of which he has been a member for two years. Throughout the year He engages the architecture profession through 3d modeling and rendering activities.
As a co-professor, Professor Homenchuk helped organize and execute two urban design studios in Michigan City, Indiana, and Abaco, Bahamas. Competing with professional entries, both academic projects won the Congress for New Urbanism annual award. Regular faculty meetings and team teaching studios are of great value in supporting student achievement. The high level of collegiality among faculty facilitates an open exchange of ideas and healthy critique of how best to achieve the best student performance. The on-going act of preparing and executing classes, evaluation and re-evaluation by peers, students, and outside organizations such as the NAAB have contributed to the content of courses taught in studio, theory, and computer graphics.
