The Andrews MBA
A Brief Description
The Master of Business Administration program is aimed at developing professionally-trained and ethically-responsible administrators for corporate, government, and not-for-profit organizations.
The business core focuses on concepts in accounting, finance, economics, organizational theory, marketing, and ethics – culminating in a capstone course in strategy. Electives which meet student needs and interests are also offered.
The Extension Experience
The curriculum in an off-campus program is identical to that offered on campus. The MBA program requires the completion of 33 semester credits of graduate work. The program is taught over a two-year period with courses offered 4-5 times a year.
Each course includes a two-week (3 weekends) intensive lecture period in which instructors provide 18-20 hours of lecture per week - usually 6 hours on Sunday and 3 ½ hours each week night, Monday-Thursday. Students are also given pre-assignments (readings and case study preparation) 2-4 weeks prior to the lecture sessions. Most faculty also have post-lecture assignments such as research papers, projects and examinations which are due 4-6 weeks after the lecture session.
One major highlight of the extension program is the residency requirement for all extension students. Each student must come to Andrews University campus for the last two courses. During the three week period on campus, students take the final two courses culminating (provided all requirements have been fulfilled) with graduation. In addition, while on campus, extension program students meet graduate students who are in other extension programs or are studying on campus and together enjoy field trips to business and government organizations in the Chicago and Michiana area.
