Lynn Merklin was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She began her career as a medical technologist, then started teaching in 1990.  She has taught high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, primarily in the areas of science and health.   She also served as a college registrar for several years.  Dr Merklin enjoys travelling and learning about other cultures.  Together with her husband, Lester, and their now grown son, Paul, they have lived in Pakistan and the Philippines, and travelled to many other countries. 
Current Research or Professional Activities:
Dr Merklin is a member of the American Evaluation Association, and has attended a number of seminars on assessment and evaluation related to public health and education.  She has given presentations and seminars on nutrition, health, weight management, and behavior change.  Her research projects include “Attitudes of Filipino Women Towards Body Weight in Children,” an evaluation of a health related university program, and “An Evaluation of Behavior Change Among Students in a General Education Health Course.”
