Welcome Letter

Welcome Letter From the Seminary Office of Distance Learning

We want to welcome you to the Seminary Office of Distance Education Center of the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University. It has been a great privilege to work on the development of the course you have registered for, we hope that you find the lectures not only informative and insightful but also enjoyable. The professor teaching your course will also serve as your mentor, so do not hesitate to contact him/her directly or e-mail him/her with any questions you may have about the lectures or assignments. The contact information can be obtained from the course outlines. Any feedback regarding a course, positive or negative, would be much appreciated.

Your course should include the following:
1) course materials (video lectures or audio-lectures),
2) information sheet on how to access the course website (the information you are reading now)
3) Text books (please purchase your-own text books).

1. Course Materials
You have either picked up your material or they have been mailed to you.

If you picked up your Course Materials, it was from the Distance Learning Office # S144.
If your Course Materials are being mailed to you, you should get them within the week.
All courses are vLectures except the Daniel courses and Issues in Origins which are mp3 audio files.
Please keep in mind these are CDs and they will only play in a computer. Each CD acts as a “website on a CD” and will run using Internet Explorer. You are not on the web but rather you are on a CD that thinks it is the web.

Usually all you have to do is put the CD in your computer’s CD-drive and it will open on its own.
Select the appropriate Lesson from the links on the right side of the screen
My computer brings up an Internet Explorer box, if yours does, select “Yes.”
Then select “Play” in the upper left side of the screen
You will have Pause, Backward, and Forward controls under the video
Also you can click on the PowerPoint title list below the video to move forward or backward

2. Text Books
Remember you are responsible for purchasing your text books.
www.andrews.edu/sem/sodl has a “Course Listing” link which will tell you what books you need and some suggested ways of purchasing them.
