Biography:

Walt Williams, Associate Ministerial Director for the North American Division and Associate Professor of Christian Ministry, is the InMinistry Center Director at the SDA Theological Seminary. With 24 years of pastoral experience, 10 years as Ministerial Director, and 10 years as InMinistry Director, Walt brings a passion for pastoral preparation and excellence. Following graduation from Southern Missionary College (i.e. Southern Adventist University), and a one-year internship in Orlando, Walt was pastoring the Sarasota Florida Church when he realized his need for more pastoral training, he began his MDiv @ Andrews University, finishing in 1976.

Returning to the Carolinas, Walt pastored churches in Spartanburg, SC and Mount Pisgah Academy in NC (his alma mater), before moving west in 1983 to begin 8 years as pastor of the Boulder, CO, Church. Here Walt discovered the joy of working with a pastoral team, experimenting with and developing an interactive preaching style and a church-wide small group ministry. From 1991 to 1996, the Rocky Mountain Conference pastors asked him to be Ministerial Director, a niche he dearly loved. Realizing his own need for more advanced theological training, he entered a DMin program at nearby Denver Seminary, finishing in 2001 as one of their first SDA graduates.

From 1996 to 2001, Walt was Associate Ministerial Director for the Georgia-Cumberland Conference, east Tennessee division. During his last years in GCC he was allowed to implement a pilot intern mentoring program for his thesis, which unknowingly led to his present role as Director of the new North America Division MDiv field-delivery called InMinistry. The MA in Pastoral Ministry field-delivery was also added in 2004. As program director, Walt travels the NAD extensively promoting the Center’s field-delivery resources (MDiv, MA in Pastoral Ministry, and CEUs). As NAD Associate Ministerial Director, Walt also functions as a liaison between the various NAD pastoral employing institutions and the SDA Theological Seminary.

Walt is married to Carol (Neidigh) and they have two grown sons, Bryan in Denver, CO, and Michael in Oceanside, CA, father of their precious granddaughter Charlie.
