Testing Services

The Counseling and Testing Center is an official testing site for national tests for college entrance, graduate school, certification exams and English proficiency exams. Below is a list of exams offered and information regarding each:

Earning College Credits (CLEP)

CLEP (College Level Examination Program) - The Counseling and Testing Center is an official CLEP test center. Testing is year round, but space is limited. Before you register for a CLEP test, please do the following:

1) Review the test rules and regulations at the CLEP website at  (www.collegeboard.com/CLEP). Andrews University students may also obtain an Advanced Placement Opportunities brochure from the Counseling and Testing Center.

2) Non Andrews University students should consult the Admissions office of the college or university for which they plan to obtain CLEP credits and get or print out written permission of that school's CLEP policy!

Clep Test Fees: As explained in the brochure, payment for CLEP is in 2 parts: 1) CLEP test fees (2010-2011 fee is $77.00) payable by credit card or check made out to "CLEP" and; 2) Counseling and Testing Center proctoring fee of $35.00 payable in cash or charged to Andrews University account. All payments are made on test day.

Registering for CLEP at Andrews University: Individual appointments are available Monday to Friday (see Appointments for office hours). 

  • Print and fill out the AU CLEP registration form or pick up an application form at the Counseling and Testing Center. AU student must obtain the signature of the Dean and Chair of the department to which that course belongs. 
  • Call 269-471-3470 to schedule your appointment
  • On test day, bring the completed registration form with you, along with positive identification as described in the official CLEP website, and the required 2 separate payments for each test.
 
 College Entrance Exams

ACT - college entrance paper-based testing. Students register and obtain further details at www.actstudent.org. A limited supply of paper based application packets are also available at the Counseling & Testing Center. IMPORTANT: Sunday test dates immediately follow the Saturday test dates that are listed online. When registering select the Saturday date that precedes the Sunday on which you would like to test. Enter the Andrews University test center code (019921). Your registration ticket will reflect the Sunday test date on which you will report for testing.

Test dates for the 2011-2012 school year are: 09/11/11, 10/23/11, 12/11/11, 04/15/12, 06/10/12.

SAT -  college entrance paper-based testing. Students register online at www.collegeboard.com. First time test takers should complete a paper application and mail in to SAT. Application packet must include a clergy letter indicating that you cannot test because of religious convictions.

Test dates for the 2011-2012 school year are: 10/02/11, 11/06/11, 12/04/11, 01/29/12, 03/11/12, 05/06/12, 06/03/12.

Graduate Entrance Exams

GRE SUBJECT - only the GRE Subject tests are administered at the Center. Registration information and other details can be accessed online at www.ets.org/gre.

LSAT (Law School Admissions Test) - Register online at www.LSAC.org. A limited supply of brochures are available at the Center.

LSAT test dates for the 2011-2012 school year are: 10/04/11, 12/05/11, 02/13/12.

English Language Proficiency Exams

MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) - Test takers are required to register at the Counseling and Testing Center at least 3 weeks prior to test date. Application packets, which include information about fees and other requirements are available at the Center. Test takers may obtain further details at: www.lsa.umich.edu/eli

MELAB test dates for the 2011 school year are: 10/20/10, 11/17/10, 12/07/11, 04/20/11.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - Test takers register and obtain details online at www.toefl.org.

TOEFL Test dates for the 2011-2012 school year are: 09/09/11, 12/09/11, 01/13/12, 02/03/12, 03/23/12, 05/25/12, 06/15/12.

Professional Certification Exams

NCE (National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification) -  Andrews university students register through the Campus Program Coordinator in the Educational and Counseling Psychology Department. Contact your program coordinator for details or visit the website at www.nbcc.org.

PRAXIS - the PRAXIS series of tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession, as part of the certification process required by many states and professional licensing organizations. PRAXIS test dates for the 2011-2012 school year are: 09/19/11, 11/14/11, 01/16/12, 03/12/12, 04/30/12, 06/11/12, 07/23/12.
