English Language Proficiency Exams

MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) - Prospective test takers are required to register at the Counseling and Testing Center at least 2 weeks prior to test date.

To Register:

• Print and complete the Official Identification (registration) form. Forms may be accessed online or at the Counseling & Testing Center.
• Submit the completed registration form to the counseling & Testing Center no later than 2 weeks prior to test date. The following MUST be submitted along with the completed registration form:
  • 1 original passport-sized photo
  • MELAB test fee of $70.00 (effective April 1, 2013) in the form of an official bank check, postal money order or cash. Make checks payable to ANDREWS UNIVERSITY (Fees are later remitted to University of Michigan). Personal checks are not accepted.
• The Counseling & Testing center submits registrants' information to MELAB. 
• Administration fee of $30.00 (CASH ONLY) is paid on test day.
• TOTAL MELAB testing fee ($70.00 + $30) = $100.00 (Cash or official checks only)
