Andrews Filipino Intl. Association
Andrews Filipino International Association (AFIA) is a club on the campus of Andrews University that promotes Filipino culture, values, and traditions to the students of the campus and the people of the community. AFIA aims to create a diverse network of connections and relationships, bringing together anyone who may be interested in Filipino culture through a variety of events and programs.
On October 5, 2014, the Andrews Filipino International Association (AFIA) kicked off their 5k Rice Run in St. Joseph, Michigan at 8 AM with over 60 participating runners and over 50 volunteers. Though it was an early and cold morning for us all, the attendance and the participation far exceeded our expectations. Needless to say, the event was a success!
We have received great reviews from our fellow students, our club membership, our institution’s administration, as well as our community. We were able to raise awareness for our partner in the event, the MRSA Survivors Network, as well as make a donation to this great cause. We definitely could not have done this without your help, so we thank you! Thank you for your contribution to and support of this great undertaking. As a token of our appreciation, please accept the complimentary shirt that accompanies this letter as a reminder of our partnership during this amazing event. There will be opportunities in the future for sponsorship possibilities, so we hope to work with you again on another event.
Though our event may be over, the mission of the MRSA Survivors Network to raise awareness of this tragic disease continues to move forward. If you would like to learn more about how to help this great organization, you may visit: http://www.mrsasurvivors.org.
Furthermore, AFIA continues to strive to create a diverse network of connections and relationships by bringing together anyone who may be interested in Filipino culture through a variety of events and programs. A notable upcoming event is our annual Pinoy Cultural Night during the spring semester, which is a program that allows our audience to experience Filipino culture through all their senses. It will be quite the night! In addition to providing memorable experience through fun events, we also aim to inspire the spirit of love and support among our membership for their neighbors. We hope to coordinate more 5K runs in the future, as well as other fundraising events that will support different causes in our community. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we continue to make our vision a reality throughout this school year.
