Dear Andrews University Campus Family, Alumni and Community Friends:
In years past, it has been the pleasure of Andrews University Dining Services to provide our campus family with an exquisite Thanksgiving meal. We appreciate this opportunity to serve you and allow you the opportunity to visit with family and friends around the dining table to build and strengthen your personal relationships. Truly, Thanksgiving is a special time of reflection about the blessings God has given to you, His mercy, and His promises that make our lives rich and full of hope.
Following the most recent Thanksgiving celebration in Dining Services, we took time to reflect on this service provided by our team. I, along with my senior management team, feel that just as you enjoy time with family and friends at the holidays, our staff should be offered the same opportunity. Each of them has made the personal sacrifice to make that meal an event to remember, but have also had to sacrifice their own personal time with family and friends.
In light of this reality, and in the interest of also preserving the well being of our staff, Dining Services will no longer hold its annual Thanksgiving meal. We understand that this has become a tradition for many of you and that changes to your plans will be necessary, and we hope that you will come to the same understanding that we have realized for our staff.
I am happy to let you know that we will be offering an alternative though, a new way to help you serve visiting family and friends the wonderful cuisine we prepare. From November 1–22 you may pre-purchase a variety of Thanksgiving dishes, packaged in servings for four, that will be available for pick-up on the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 27.
These dishes may be purchased in multiples to allow you to serve any size group. Where needed, heating and other preparation instructions are included for your convenience. To learn about these options and to place your order, simply call our office at 269-471-3161 or stop by during our regular office hours.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we make this change to our program in a way that also provides a chance to honor this special time of year for our staff and their families. It's our privilege at Dining Services to work and live in a community that understands and strives for the preservation of the family and close positive spiritual relationships. This reality is one of many things for which we give thanks each day.
